So i got a good deal on a 50" light bar off ebay. In the process of installing it on Big Red. Had to make my own brackets to mount it. Thought id share some pics of the install. Brackets were pretty easy to make, used 1 1/2 flat stock. Hope this link works... Mobile Uploads Photos by bborkey | Photobucket
some tips for anyone looking to put a light bar on their machine. dont buy a cheap wiring kit, make you're own. I made my own so there wasnt extra wiring i didnt need, and the wire gauge looked to small on most kits i shopped. The specs for my 50" 288W light bar said 18.7A at 12V. i didnt do the math at first and put 14G wire with a 20A fuse, 40A relay and 30A switch. But the math says that 288W at 12V = 24A. i popped 2 20A fuses before i figured that out. So i put 12G wire and a 30A fuse, the math says 24A, but my snap on meter is showing 26.10. I hope this helps anyone else. This light bar may be a bit overkill, it sure is bright as heck, but im happy with it and i have no problem seeing with the plow lifted up.
