I just got mine today. I put a few miles on it tonight and will take it out for a big ride tomorrow with 2 RZR. I like it so far. But the top speed on mine is 41. I wish it was around 50.
If you are ordering or purchasing the new Pioneer 500 post up here and let us know about it! Pictures are always welcome![]()

Very cool! Definitely keep us posted and let us know how the ride went.
Dealer has a Yellow one coming in a week or two, told him it's mine. Could have had the green one but reminds me of my Army days, and I already have a green Rancher AT.
That's cool RedDog! Definitely post up some pictures when you get it![]()
new here... been back and forth between what seems like all of them... Finally, pulled the trigger on a green 500 today. Roof is on order. Also got 27's for it although I am awaiting some magical weird sized lug nut so I can mount them up. Pictures forthcoming.
JJ
Welcome JJ! Please keep us posted with photos and if you figure out what sized lug nuts the 500 calls for let us know.
Thanks...lugs were 12mm x 1.5 taper
Thanks for the info!
Nice work! I assume you cut it out of wood and then rhino lined it?
yes... I own a cabinet shop, so ply was the natural choice. Got it all mocked up and then rhino'd it. Finally got it up to the hunting camp this past weekend and it worked perfectly for what I need....check game cameras, haul corn for the feeders, etc. This thing runs so smooth on our rutted up roads. Love it so far.
Right on! I bet it does make all those chores much more enjoyable![]()
JJ. Any clearance issues with your 27" tires? 12" or 14" rims?
I guess they are 14s...they measure 15 plus. Didn't notice any rubbing with the setup.
Loaded up and on the way home with a load of accessories.
Windshield, hard top, winch, push tubes, and snow blade. I'm waiting for 26" Rip Saws on Viper wheels, winch and plow mounts, and bumpers.
So far it runs great speedometer shows 42 MPH before the rev limiter kicks in and the paddle shifters are awesome.
Proud owner of a new Pioneer 500. After researching, went to the dealer with every intention of getting a Polaris Sportsman or Ranger. The Honda salesman let me test both, plus a Rincon and both Pioneers. The Hondas felt so much better, drove better, and not to mention don't have the downsides of belt drive. Plus the Polaris machines just felt sloppy and if I am honest, a bit cheap. Another minus for the Ranger was how much it vibrated even brand new. Polaris needs to revisit their motor mount or balance or something! I almost strayed from Honda, but they brought me back again with their amazing machines.
Ended up picking up the last Pioneer 500. Added a plow, winch, front bumper, and mirror. We will be building a custom box, possibly dumping. Chose the Pioneer because of the quality, not shaking bad, quieter, 50in wide, transmission for drivability and hauling, and because it is a Honda. I have always owned Hondas but I have always sampled other brands and no others compare.
Took her out in the woods, it really does feel like a ATV and can go anywhere an ATV can. I am very impressed with how easily it goes up the steepest hills we have in 2wd, and they are steep.
I will have to see if I can get some videos uploaded with the GoPro and Jaws mount.

I've had my 500 about 6 weeks now. I've used it in just about every type of terrain, i absolutely love it. Hard roof, mirrors, underhood/seat storage, bumpers, large rear cargo bag, roll bar zippered storage bag, and a custom built hitch that holds a 5 gallon jerry can, for those long rides. Wheels and tires, winch and windshield to come as money allows and weather warrants. A blast to use everywhere, yes it tops out at 42mph, but i'm not climbing sand dunes in the desert, and i get a kick out of watching all my friends to and muscle their monstrosities through the timber. I'm usually sitting and enjoying a cold beverage in my "inferior" machine while they're trying to figure out how thy are gonna make it through the tight spots. I've owned every make and model of atv, atc and dirtbike over the years, but this is my first SxS. Honda has always been the very top of the list as far as quality and dependability goes, and I'm sure i'll still be using my Pioneer 30 years from now while your Rzr or Ranger has been rotting in the junkyard for 20.
update....
Just wanted to throw this out there as I haven't seen a lot in the way of modifications yet....
Finally found a little time to do some upgrades.... Trying to get ready for hunting season.
Wheels and tires 27s were added when I bought it.... Just Added roof, 24" front and rear LED light bars, custom bed, and front and rear A-arm guards.
No complaints other than I had to make a custom bed (which I would have probably done anyway).
