Awesome... I did something similar and so far it has worked perfect.
We built a custom box from 3/4in plywood and sprayed rubber coating on it. The rear panel lifts for removal.

How heavy is the box?
I would have to guess 30-35lbs. 8 inch walls. Poly'd the bottom and slots of the gate.
We used the stock holes to the front side of the rack, drilled on towards the back in the middle flat bar. There is a vibration from one of the corners but I have some foam. Also the base is bent a bit from being bolted down because the rack isn't flat.
I bought my first utv today. Pioneer 500. That is a neat looking box you have built. Do you have the plans for construction of one. I would like to build one just like yours.
Regards,
Nah no plans, I could measure. Just built the platform about the size of the rack, 8 inch walls, the bolt points, then two slivers of wood on each side of the rear gate to hold it in place. Sprayed with some rubber compound.
That is a nice box. I attached a copy of one I made early last fall. It worked well during hunting season.
- Kent manufacturing built this all aluminum diamond plate box with gate for 350.00 plus shipping. They build boxes for golf carts. The dimensions are 48"x32"x8"

My custom rack and brush guard
Nice work. I need to build one to haul firewood. is it sturdy enough to crank down on it with ratchet straps?
what kind of rubber layer did you use?
