    2012 Big Red questions...

I bought my Big Red on 7/03/12 brand new from the dealer. So far I have a soft top, wind deflector, Pioneer radio with Kicker 5 1/4" door speakers, net pocket kit. I have around 1200 miles on it in the month and a half I've had it. My question is, does the power commander V with a slip on make a difference you can feel/use? Is there a top speed limiter remover yet? We run on wide grades and forest service roads and my buddy bought a RZR 800 le. I would like to get around 50mph out of it if at all possible, I'm not trying to beat him. Thanks

the power commander with an exhaust upgrade and filter makes a huge difference. now there is nothing you can do about the speed cap, but you will definiately get to the max speed quicker. i love my power commander V. do you do any mudding? if so you really need to do the upgrade. also i have some suggestions on mounting options.

I am only getting in the mud a little this year. I need a winch and I would like to lift it and get a 27" mud tire. I have read some people say it won't turn the tires in the mud, that's why I'm asking about the power commander. Its hard to find honest answers and its to much money to be buying stuff that does not work.

    Re: 2012 Big Red questions...

i run a 28" outlaw and they turn just fine. i do run a really hot tune, but it gets it done! as for a tire, i would suggest the mudlite xtr. its a radial and wears good. it's also very well mannered on the roads.

the big red is kinda like a diesel, with the torque converter it allows it to take advantage of the stall rpm. it will chug along through the mud, but not go too fast that you will dig a hole. i love mine.

    Perfect combo:
    2" high lifter kit
    Big gun or FMF pipe
    UNI filer
    Power commander 5
Roll up front window so you don't have to run it when you don't need it.
Pair of HID lights, the stock ones just ain't enough.

Tires are always a personal preference.

Are you running a 12" or 14" rim? Where did you get your map from? Would you recommend a snorkle? Thanks for the help.

    Re: 2012 Big Red questions...

i have 12" rims, got a deal on the outlaws so that is what they are. no problem, not trying to bling it out. as for the maps, you can download them right from power commander's web site. its actually one for a rincon, but you should know that its the same now. all i did was extend the ground terminal so i could mount it up high.

i run a snorkel due to deep water crossings that i have where i live, i've had it in water over the steering wheel before. but as for necessity of a snorkel, the fact is you have to determine where you ride. if you are in deep water situations a lot, then yes. the factoy snorkel opens up under the passenger seat.

i have yet to hear or see the FMF pipe. i tried ordering it 4 different times and it was never in stock. from my experience on the trail, the big gun exhausts are always louder.

    Re: 2012 Big Red questions...

Well, I added the Highlifter 2" lift kit today. I got it at my local dealership for $90 and some change. Took me just over a 1/2 hour to install, start to finish. Decent instructions, only a couple of tools needed. Took a 2 hour ride afterward and here are my impressions. I love the new ride, it softened it up a bit for me in the huge rollers we have on the grade near town. It used to bottom out a lot at any speeds over 20 or so, tonight it never bottomed out once. Took it out to our local mud pit and went through some areas I had never tried before, no issues. Made it through a couple I had gotten stuck in before. Overall very impressed for the results for a $90 upgrade. As long as it holds up, I would recommend it.

    Re: 2012 Big Red questions...

I'm going to wait until spring for some bigger tires/ pcv/ exhaust. Its getting cold up here now, I gotta buy the cab for it. I'm going to snorkle it in the next couple of weeks, getting sick of cleaning the air filter every couple of rides. Then some more lighting. Also, I am having some custom graphics being made for the door/ fuel tank/ filler pannel. If I like how it turns out I will post up some pics. They are supposed to be done this week yet. Thanks for the comments.

    Re: 2012 Big Red questions...

So I got the Honda soft doors and rear window. I am wondering who has the best split windshield? Pros and cons of the ones available, who has what? Thanks

    Re: 2012 Big Red questions...

They get dirty/ covered but still work great even with mud on them. Better than no backup light. I would like to make a little L-bracket mount so they would be horizontal. I had them laying around, would love some leds, but to much$

The white looks good. I wonder how long the clean white look will last though.

    Re: 2012 Big Red questions...

We still have a foot or so of snow on the ground with some banks as high as 3+ feet. We went down the grade to the local bay, full of mud. He hit some tree branches and its still there... The real test will be a good washing, and seeing if it keeps its white glow.
