Hey guy's I wanted to let you all know that Magnum Tuning Performance Products is a SCAM!!! Not only does the Magnum Revolution-Pro CDI Box REV/SPEED Limiter Delete not work (Cant even be installed in the Honda PGM-FI Unit "ECM") you will destroy your $600+ PGM-FI Unit. Oh, and don't plan on calling them because you will only get a answering machine. They offer NO phone tech service. You email them and they will respond with some kind of bull **** within 48hrs of receiving your email.

The Instructions or "High Notes" as they call them are vague at best and the pictures and instructions don't apply the Honda PGM-FI Unit they use a Honda Civic ECM in their instructions. Their customer service and tech support is a JOKE, and the complete product is a scam. I took the computer "PGM-FI Unit" and the Magnum Revolution-Pro CDI Box to a electronics specialist that build computers and repairs electronics and automotive ECM/ECU's that has a electrical engineering degree that has fixed various T.V.'s, Car Stereo's, computers, and other stuff for me in the past.

He advised me not to have him try to install the MAGNUM REVOLUTION-PRO CDI BOX because he felt the way the PGM-FI Unit was made there was a 95% chance it wouldn't work and he would destroy the computer trying to get it apart and get the Magnum CDI Box Installed. I emailed Magnum and told them what he said and the next day the owner himself assured me everything would work fine. So I gave the Electronics Specialist the go ahead, and sure enough once he did finally git inside the computer the board was nothing like the instructions it was. there wasn't even a spot to solder it in and there is no quartz.

This is the last response I got VIA email from their Tech Support, I know longer get any responses....
I need you help and I can't wait another 48hrs to find out whats going on. I've done a lot of performance work to this MUV-700 and this Magnum CDI Box is the only component thats holding me up. The instructions that came with the CDI Box don't tell you exactly where the ECM is located. All I can find is a Keihin PGM-FI Unit and it look absolutely nothing like the ECM depicted in the instructions. Every time I email you you give me the run around and your response and the instructions are vague and you wont talk to me on the phone. I have to wait 48hrs for a unhelpful response. I feel like your giving me the run around and I'm afraif I've bought into a scam. If the PGM-FI unit (MSRP = $879.99) is destroyed by the electronics expert thats going to install it are you going to buy me a new one? He's telling me I have a 95% chance that disassembling this PGM-FI Unit will destroy it. Please be straight up with me and let me know whats going on. I need you to GET BACK WITH ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!

Thanks, Jim

Magnum Tunings Response

First of all why have you attached a highlighted copy of High Notes from our web site? I've been totally familiar with since it was debuted yet in 1999? I'm not a representative has just been hired by Magnum, rest assured we put every wheel into motion to assist you ASAP. Our manufacturer tech support is supposed to help customers in a timely manner however we never advertized we reply immediately. This is impossible considering the huge amount of emails, chiefly around Yuletide period when all companies are full. No manufacturers or authorized online dealerships warrant prompt response time, so please don’t expect that non-existence service from us. Please let me focus on the technical support instead of assuming we want to mislead valuable Customers. What for would we do that?

A online purchase is supposed to be a contract between two parties. Merchant is fully responsible for order fulfillment including selling exactly what is advertized. Also we run exceptional Technical support. Buyer has to be is responsible for at least reading and acknowledgement of relevant information. This is not a pair of shoes you can simply pull on your feet. Tune-up part might affect engine durability, reliability so to be aware of fundamental criteria is exigency. We do not conceal several factors have to be considered prior to purchase.

As long as you can read and obey the instructions this item is installable and works exactly as described on MUV-700. No risk of damage accordingly unless unit is misused or improperly installed. ECU can be disassembled and gel dissolved according to accurate references on the manual. I want to let you know right now my Instructions nor my follow ups reply's have been vague or contradicting. I can not take the responsibility for for your total ignorance of high notes. Everyone being inclined with this topic knows, ECU is a common phrase in automotive terminology also referred as to ECM, FI unit, etc. There are at least 50 different abbreviations for electronic engine managements. As a senior developer engineer I’m not willing to reply to intentional fault finding. If you buy a gasket, a spark plug, an oil filter, a serpentine belt a timing belt or bearings you WILL NOT RECEIVE VEHICLE SPECIFIC PICTURES or instructions. Each part can cause a $5,000 worth damage in the instance of wrong installation. Setup of REV-PRO is can
be VERY risky. Your the one that ordered the part and you should have read high notes and installation instruction on the web site before order, if you had you wouldn’t have encountered any issue or at least we would have had the opportunity to reply to all question yet prior to purchase. If you had you wouldn't have had any questions or issues!!! This is NOT our bad. As I stated before the Rev limiter can be fitted perfectly for a technical-minded installer (Clearly You NOT) if instructions are followed and high notes obeyed.

Thank you.

This is what the PGM-FI Unit on the MUV-700 looks like:

I've got a buddy of mine helping me figure out what exactly we're going to need to do to make the 2009 Honda Rincon TRX-680 PGM-FI Unit work. I'm waiting on the Service CD/Manuals to come in for the 2009 MUV-700 and the 2009 TRX-680 so we can look at the Wiring Schematics and figure out what we're going to have to modify in the MUV-700 Wiring Harness itself so it will run off the NEW OEM $544.95 TRX-680 PGM-FI Unit we bought.

As far as I know making the TRX-680 PGM-FI Unit work on the MUV-700 is the ONLY cost semi efficient way we're going to be able to get the extra 2,500RMP's (55mph+) we want out of the Big Red. Honda really has those limiters (top speed, RPM, reverse, and neutral) where their damn near impossible if not impossible to remove. Has ANYONE ever heard of ANYBODY successfully getting these limiters removed on the MUV-700? and Why in the HELL doesn't sombody make Interfacing Tuning Software for the PGM-FI Units? I don't understand why somebody hasn't, all of Honda's New Fuel Injected Off-Road Vehicles come with a Keihin PGM-FI Unit so you know the demand would be out there among the Honda guys. Anyway I'll keep you guys updated on the progress or lack of we make on this Honda Big Red "MUV-700R" Build. If we can get this figured out were home free. I really do think this thing will blow peoples minds when they see how good it is actually capable of performing and handling. Heres the list of upgrades and Mods this Big Red has on it.

  • Custom Stainless Steel Head Pipe Made that starts out 1.5" then swells and steps up to 1.75". We Replaced all the OEM Heat Shields with Big Gun's Universal Large Heat Shields (3).
  • Big Gun Slip On Exhaust System for MUV-700.
  • Bored Throttle Body to 45mm.
  • EHS Air Box Lid Insert w/ K&N Filter and Outerwear's Filter.
  • Dynatek FI Fuel Controller.
  • Dynatek Coil Kit
  • Accel 8mm Race Wire.
  • NGK-IX Iridium Spark Plug.
  • CNC Port and Polished Head w/ +1 Oversize Delwest Stainless Steel Valves.
  • Webcam w/ HD Dual Valve Spring Kit.
  • 715cc Big Bore Kit with 11.5:1 High Compression Piston.
  • Custom Made Hinged Roll Cage with Spare Tire Mount (Dump Bed Still Usable)
  • 12X10 Badlands Beadlock Aluminum Wheels.
  • 26X12-R12 Balanced Dirt Devil II Rear Tires.
  • 26X10-R12 Balanced Dirt Devil II Front Tires.
  • Elka Stage II UTV Shocks.
  • .5" Billet Wheels Spacers.
  • Custom Made MUV-700R Graphic Kit.

Oh and it's loaded with every Factory Option as well. PLEASE keep your eyes open and ask anyone who might know anything about this if you don't mind. I need all the help I can get! OH, AND MAKE SURE YOU STAY AWAY FROM ANY MAGNUM TUNING JUNK, YOU WILL DESTROY THE OE MUV-700 PGM-FI UNIT if you attempt to disassemble it and they range from $550 to $1,200 for a new OEM ONE DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU BUY IT.

Thanks,

Okay guys I emailed Magnum and told them I wanted a refund and this is the conversation and deal I offered them. What do you think they will say? The guy from Magnum Tunings email is in the RED Font and my reply email is in the BLUE Font. I am 110% sure Somnuk Kongaran the Taiwanese Electronics Specialist with 30+yrs experience and a degree in the electronics field knew exactly what he was doing when I sent the PGM-FI Unit and the Magnum Revolution-Pro CDI Box to wire in, I figured his people built the Keihin PGM-FI Unit so who better to instal and wire in the CDI Box than him?

I'm the Environmental Manager at Purnell's Sausage Company and I mess around with ATV's, UTV's, Diesel Trucks, Sports Cars and pretty much everything else that can be souped up on the side in my free time. This guy is the head Electrical Engineer and Electronics Specialist at the same company. The man builds PLC's and Computers that automate this entire Multi-Million Dollar Company, plus he repairs automotive ECM/ECU's, as well at TV's, Microwaves, and pretty much any other electronically controlled thing you can think of on the side. It's not like I took the PGM-FI Unit and Magnum CDI Box to my buddy that messes with car stereo systems and had him tare into it with a hammer and a flat headed screw driver. This guy is legit.

Let me know what you think about the emails I pasted bellow:

Good day Sir,

I rather don’t react to your technical part of the follow up, just briefly: we are not responsible for any issue or damage caused by unprofessional disassembly. Both web site and manual clearly assumes responsibility form Buyer to get this unit installed by someone is inclined. Check high notes! Please refrain from mentioning incompatibility and pure stupidity of the installer you hired that was unable to commit even the first step precisely: to open up an ECU.

This is not a plug & play device it has never been so advertized and as a developer engineer I have no idea how anything can be damaged or what destroying can transpire! Because this unit had been sold and locally successfully installed on tons of Keihin PGM-FI's, your bs statements about installation not being possible is absolutely false! If someone wasn't sure she or he can commit a task, she or he shouldn't tackle it but better to admit: this part has to be installed with a professional! Nobody is absolute.

I'm wondering what proficiency installer has got! New ECU? Due to a disassembling? If you told this to anyone in this industry he would find it ridiculous. I will offer you the options stated in the warranty terms have been acknowledged when order was confirmed by you, Sir. Terms unambiguously say, returns accepted in 7 days if part is new. Shipping is not refundable and 15% restocking fee is applied. Because I want to avoid undesired dispute I offer refund and ignore 7-day time frame for return (You've had the item approximately 8 days today). If part is returned in brand new condition, you will receive a portion of your money back, so yes you will be reimbursed. Claim for used item will not be granted.

That’s the best I can do for you.

The Magnum CDI Box was never touched. The package was opened to remove the instructions and thats it. Is this the return shipping address I need to send the Magnum Pro CDI Box back to in order to get a refund?

Before I send it back and get a refund I'll give you the opportunity to prove me and my Electronics Specialist wrong because the original issue we were attempting to eliminate on the 2009 Honda Big Red MUV-700 (RPM/Speed Limiter) still exist, and I've still got to figure out a solution to that problem.

If I buy a new MUV-700 PGM-FI Unit and send it to you your tech guys should be able to install the Magnum Pro Revolution CDI Box into the Keihin PGM-FI Unit? Right? You send me a email guaranteeing me that you can install the Magnum Tuning Revolution-Pro UTV Speed/Rev Limiter CDI Box in the Keihin PGM-FI Unit and your responsible for ANY damage to the PGM-FI Unit that could occur during the Magnum Pro-Revolution CDI Box Installation and the Magnum Pro-Revolution CDI Box will work and do everything your internet item description claims it will do and I will your company to do the installation and I'll send you the money through Pay Pal.

This way everybody is happy. I'm happy because the Speed/Rev Limiter issues are solved, my customer is happy that his MUV-700 doesn't shut down at 38mph, and your happy because you sold me a good product, Magnum made the additional money for doing the installation, and you proved me wrong and showed me that the Electronic Specialist I've been using is a ass hat that has no clue what he's doing.

My Electronics Specialist Somnuk Kongaran said he would like to talk to you about the installation and why he says there is absolutely no way the Magnum Pro-Revolution CDI Box can be installed on the Keihin PGM-FI Unit. His Phone number is 1-(502)-722-8205 and his email address is skongaran@itsgooo-od.com if you care to shoot him a email or give him a phone call. Please get back with me as soon as possible so I can decide if I want to send it back and get my money refunded, or Pay Pal you the extra money for the installation.

i got to thinking a little more on this.....
the earlier model rincons were carbed. why not get the setup for one of those bikes and bolt it on. except i would suggest switching to a performance carb like a keihin flat side. the trans setup should be about the same, from there they have some proven systems that work with the factory ignition to raise rev limiters. fuel injection is nice, but when you start heading down the performance path it takes a lot to make it happen.

also maybe talk to the guys that make the can-am "tune monster". its a truly stand alone system. not built for the Honda single cylinder, but they might point you in some new directions.
