Looking at both now. I like this one Alpin*stars perfed leather jacket but I wanted to know if anyone had bad stuff to say about either brand before I order tonight. I think ND4SPD has one of the AStars jackets. Any help would be appreciated. I'd like to order the Astars SMX but damn they are proud of that one.

My first jacket was a Teknic's... it has lasted me until now. Been through rain, snow, more rain, sun, bugs, more bugs and lots of posing. After 7 years, it has finally broken a zipper toggle on one of the pockets. It still looks almost new...

Although it's comfy and fits well, I'm glad I crashed in my HJC because the padding is better quality and leather is thicker.

I could never find a Alpinestars to fit the way I wanted they were always a lil too sung so I ended up get a Teknic because it was a better fit (for me). Alpinestars always has a wider selection of jackets and colors. As long as you have something with some good padding, if the unthinkable happens, you'll be in good shape. :hmm:

I'm very happy with my A* Stunt jacket. Front is perforated as are the armpits in the back. From what I've seen with Teknic's stuff, it doesn't appear to be as well built as the A*. I've tried both on, inspected stitching, etc.....just didn't feel comfortable with it. I spent the extra couples bucks(literally) for the A*

I have a Alpine stars "Stunt" perf. leather jacket, I love it, no complaints from me at all. Never tried on a tecknic...prett brand loyal so I find something I like and stick with it.

My son had a minor lowside this weekend at Pahrump, wearing a Teknic jacket and Joe Rocket pants. The pants survived just fine but the jacket tore some seams pretty good. Don't know if that's just indicative of that particular mishap or stitching quality, but I've got a Teknic suit so I hope not! I love my suit - quality looks great, very sturdy leather, good design, price is certainly right, but most of what I've heard historically is that A*'s quality and toughness is a little better. My two cents, anyway.

I've worn, and crashed in both (all low-speed fiddy stuff). They both held up just fine, but given a choice, I'd pick the thicker, better-armored Alpinestars, hands-down.
