Auto chain oilers or manual application?

Someone introduced me to the scottsoiler today and it struck a cord with me since I started paying a lot more attention to my maintenance responsibilities lately.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the below (or one I've missed) be it good or bad. Also if there was a best of the bunch or if the trusty can of lube and manual application was better particularly with the space limitations on the 1000RR?

They are more of a mess than they are worth - especially for today's sportbike chains.
Your o or x ring chain doesn't actually require any internal lubricant, as it is sealed by the rings.
The auto oilers will just require more chain maintenance as you will be constantly cleaning it, or replacing it due to the dirt that has been attracted by the oil ruining your chain.
Before the internally-lubed o and x ring chains, this system was a great idea, as the chains truly required mucho lube, now it's unneccesary.

It's a mileage dependent choice....if you are doing the miles, it can make sense, if not...it's superflous...

A good coat of spray chain wax every few rides is all you need. Put it on a hot chain after your ride and it will seal up nice and nver fling off.

Wax works great on the SO's coochie....but never on a drive chain unless it sees marine duty... :smilebig:
