One should be interested in the date of mfg. 5 years from the date inside the helmet is when most racing orgs won't let a helmet pass tech. Believe the helmet mfgs also recommend replacing after 5 yrs from mfg.RNBzie said:Does the date really make a difference?... I mean if the helmet hasn't been dropped shouldn't it still be good as new?
Seems like some have had very good experiences with them though...so it seems a mixed bag depending...Getsome said:hmm would think about ordering one as a passanger helmet if they had mediums, and if conq hadn't showed that other post.. bummer.
So 1/2 off would be a reasonable price but not a deal.abtech said:Just got of the phone with Ron and although he didn't seem interested in opening one up, his best guess is that the helmets were manufactured in 2003 or 2004. That means the clock has been ticking for a possible couple of years while they sat in the warehouse somewhere . . .
. . . or consider that they may have been manufactured in January, 2003. At this point the helmet is nearly 3 years old already.sheepofblue said:So 1/2 off would be a reasonable price but not a deal.
$600 list / 5 years of service = 120/year
If the helmet is an 03 it has 2 years left = $240
If the helmet is an 04 it has 3 years left = $360
CAUTION: Never trust a Blue Sheep on time calculations
D'oh cause '06 is very near! Now you see why the disclaimer :down:abtech said:. . . or consider that they may have been manufactured in January, 2003. At this point the helmet is nearly 3 years old already.
