My riding pants (until the budget allows for a full leather suit) are TourMaster Cortech GX pants. I really like them - very comfortable, good protection, etc., but I have one big problem. My inner calves just ROAST in them for some reason. I actually have a burn on my left calf from a pretty standard 1 1/2 hour ride, with normal temperatures. In jeans my legs don't bake, but in these pants they just get toasted! I usually just wear biking shorts underneath them. It's driving me nuts! Any suggestions?

Brian, it's apparent those standard GX pants are holding the prodigious heat which bellows from the area of the fairing right by your calves.

I know it's not the least expensive route, but since you are a Tour Master fan (as am I), how about buying a pair of the GX Airs to go along with those standard GX pants?

You could use the Airs for the really hot weather (four months of the year perhaps) and the standard, more insulated variant to stretch the riding season out at the beginning and end.

Baketech : Is this burn above your boot....?
Yes, it's about halfway between my ankle and knee. Both legs get really hot about the same area, but the left seems to be the worst.

I've seen kevlar welding sleeves before, they weren't a glove, they were basically just a stretchy tube of kevlar you wrapped around your arm to protect clothing while welding, the dude selling them put a torch to his arm, so I think they block heat pretty well , try a welding store

nhfirefighter13 : Tube socks?
Lots of help there nh!

bwhip, when I feel any heat I feel it higher up, like on my inner thighs. We basically have the same bike (just a year apart), so I'm at a loss as to why your calves are cookin' man. Although I know Boise has been cooking lately- maybe you're just not used to all that 100 deg+ weather

Man that's weird.....
I don't get any cooking problems with leathers, stich or jeans....my foot will get a bit warm in stop and go...but no red marks.

I do notice that I have to grip the tank a bit more when wearing the Stich because its a bit more slippery...maybe you are doing the same and not getting much ventilation between your legs and bike...

It is a bit slippery, but I notice it more just riding in a straight line than in intense twisties where I'm really hugging the bike. I can even move my legs away from the engine, allowing air to flow between my legs and the bike, and it still burns like a mother. It's been hot here like Bacchus mentioned, but yesterday when I rode it was only about 85 degrees out, and my legs burned with the engine temp from 180 to 210. I can't figure out why it happens in these pants but not jeans - it's like they actually conduct heat and retain it or something. My wife even noticed the burn on my leg when I was wearing shorts later.

Maybe the burn is caused by some allergic reaction to the 'stich fabric.
My palm got allergic reaction to some of fabric mouse pad, I have to use plastic mouse pad not the fabric ones.
The feeling is like burn sensation.
Or maybe your legs rub the 'stich material excessively...
Just... maybe.....

I e-mailed TourMaster to see if they have any suggestions or have heard from anyone else on this issue. I've got to figure something out because they're just about unusable currently.
