firedawgon929 : I've seen that before and know how it works, but will it connect into the chatterbox?
They are working on an adapter for the chatterbox, but honestly, I'd rather use a Motorola FRS radio. I got mine brand new with rechargable battery for under $30.

I see them at costco @ 2 for $89 and they are the high power 5 mile range versions.

Split the cost, buy the headset (if it works out) and you can have your own private chatterbox for under $100.

Better yet, get GMRS.  They are getting to be about as cheap as FRS radios and just as compact.  The extra power is really helpful.

Let us know how the mic works.  If it's good I might get one myself.

Edit: What sort of plug does it have on it? Does it use the standard radio dual-plug or something else?

Plug end? I don't know. When I ordered it, they asked me what type of radio I had, so I'm assuming it either comes with some type of adapter, or is a direct plug in.

UPDATE!

The headset arrived today and I've been able to play with it for a little bit, but no real results due to RAIN!

Go figure, it's raining in San Diego

I'll let you all know more as soon as possible.

Well, I've tested and tested the unit. Here's the lowdown.

The headset does reduce windnoise, but does NOT eliminate it.

VOX plain and simple sucks. The headset responds better to using the PTT as all units do. If you can stand repeating yourself, or just yelling HEY before you start talking, then there is no problems.

Other than that, a worthy investment @ $45 shipped.

The company is Clearer Com I got my unit in exactly 7 days from ordering.

NOW, with that said, I have seen similar units on e-bay for $29+ shipping, but I do not know if these are the same units.

Also, clearercom.com has a new dual transducer unit in the works....although about 3x the price as the standard unit.

Hope you enjoyed my writeup, feel free to ask any questions.
