You could start by reading the label inside the jacket.

Mine says:

'HANDWASH

- do not machine wash
- max temp 40C
- do not soak
- gently squeeze and if necessary gently rub (hmm, )
- rinse with care
- completely dry before storage

- do not iron
- do not dry clean
- do not bleach'

Bah.. I used to handwash my jacket with a toothbrush and 'Pink Solution', a non-toxic grease all purpose cleaner and I thought I was going to go crazy. I had enough and the next I cleaned it I threw it in the washer under the gentle setting and  it did a much better cleaning job. I don't know why Joe Rocket says not to wash it in a machine as I have had this jacket now for 2 years and it still looks new. Every other person I know who has a Joe Rocket textile does the same and their jackets are fine

Maybe they want you buying new ones instead of cleaning the ones you got
