Time for a new jacket. My current one is about 3 years old, still in good shape, but it was starting to get a little tight at the end of the season(I hate it when my clothes shrink :crap: ). Now that I got a back protector(thanks NH :thumb: ), I need a spacier jacket. I'd like to stick with Alpinestars, I've been extremely happy with their product. What do you guys own, how do you like it, how's the armor and such? My local dealer doesn't carry anything AS other than dirt boots, so I can't even really try anything on :(

Hey Nd4, what size jacket do you where? Maybe we can all have like a swap meet at the motorcycle show. I have an all black, foam armored (in the elbows and shoulders), seriously thick leather, jacket with removable (winter) liner that I hardly ever wore (I wear my 1 piece every time I ride). I think it's a size 40 or 42. If you want to look at it (try it on) maybe I can bring it up to the show. Purchased for $270.00 (still have receipt from Cycle Leather), sell for $180.00

My current one is a 42, so it more than likely wouldn't fit. I need at least a 44, possibly 46. I'm gonna take my back protector to the bike show and try some stuff on. Think I'll get weird looks? :idunno: :smilebig:

Get a vanson... Takes forever to break in.

But I must admit, the "regular" stuff is very nice looking. Alpinestar, dainese, I like them all, but vanson is some heavy duty leather...

Yeah, that's what my dealer specializes in. I just really don't want to spend $500 on a jacket
Look for a used one. Actully, I may have a buddy that wants to sell his. I want to say that it was a 44. BTW, there is no way it hell you need a 46 you skinny MFer. :p

I know you said that you wanted to stick w/ AS, but FWIW I have been really happy w/ my JR Speedmaster. 1.4mm leather and plastic armor in shoulders, and elbows. Most bang for the buck.

Bite me Fatso :rasp: The backprotector is bulky. I've yet to try it on with my suit(that's a 44). If it fits fine under that then I guess I'll stick to a 44.

As far as your buddy's jacket.......I'd rather stick brand new. I have a thing against buying used gear :idunno:

Another Vanson vote.....my only gripe is they charge an EXTRA $50 if you want it without the logo patches on the sleeves.... LOL

Edit:
Oh...don't get the Vanson back protector...its a piece of dung. Get a real one instead....

One other thing to consider...I assume you now have pants that said jacket zips to? A full circumference zipper, hopefully? Either stay with the same brand, or make sure the zippers are compatable. Most, but not all, are.

No pants to zip to as of now. I'm not a big fan of the 2pc stuff. If I'm gonna ride that hard I jump in my suit. The jacket is mainly for going over friend's houses, or around town rides.

Ok, gotcha! I thought perhaps it was a jacket for the track, but it seems you have another suit for th track. :thumb:
Good move, wearing a back protector on the street as well as the track!

I have a Dainese Flash jacket for the street. Its the all black one (No yellow stiching, ALL BLACK) with the carbon fiber shoulder pads. Its by far the best street jacket I have ever had, bit pricey. But it has great back protector, elbow/ wrist armor, and the best leather available. I hardly ever wear it since I hate riding street now a days, too many tickets and frustration with cagers. really feels good in a tuck. Feels like you can be shot out of a cannon and be all good.

Might be selling since I ride track only now. Size 46US/56Europe. Any offers welcome, need new suit.
