I am looking at buying a pair of riding boots and since I have the Reactor jacket and gloves, was thinking I may stick with the JR name for the rest. I like the Speedmaster and Hard Drive boots, but I was wondering what everyone else thought of them. Seems to be a lot of people who like Alpinestars, so Im not sure if JR has a bad name for making boots or if it's jus personal preferance to another brand.

A buddy of mine low-sided with his (his foot was caught under the bike). Didn't leave a scratch on his foot and the boot was in great shape.

I had a pair of JR Revoultion boots which only lasted 1 season. I'm sure the higher-end models would be better. I now have a pair of Oxtar's, which I'm in love with.

Looks like i'll be ordering a pair of Speedmasters within the week. Hopefuly I won't ever have to test their durability, but it would be nice to be prepared incase I do find myself going down. Thanks for the input

Gotta look at how much your feet are worth to ya. Mine were worth the ~$300 I paid for my SMX+ boots, and don't regret it one bit. I've never tested them, hopefully never will, but if/when I do I feel like I'll walk away with much less than with other boots I was looking at

Price doesn't really worry me that much, Speedmasters are one of JR's top brands. I am not looking for the cheapest boots, more like boots that are at a fair price that I feel I can trust the quality. If anyone has a preferance, I would like to know what that is and a reason. If Alpinestars or another top brand are really that great, and someone can kinda push me into that direction, then i'd like to know which one to chose. I am just lookin to stop wearing regular shoes and get more protection incase the unthinkable happens.

Consider this a push towards the Alpinestars SMX+ :D

I personally went to Oxtar. You can find good deals on them and they are a top boot.

They also fit wide feet. :D

If fair price and a quality product you can trust is what you are looking for, the S-MX Plus fits the bill. I recently shopped around and tried on a number of boots from different manufacturers and found the S-MX Plus to be the best mix of quality, fit and price. I purchased my pair on sale for $189 plus tax. They are a bit stiffer than other boots but not uncomfortable :thumb:
