THIS IS A BIG DEAL

US FOREST SERVICE DEVELOPING NEW PLANNING REGULATIONS
WILL GLOBAL WARMING TRUMP MULTIPLE USE?

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is beginning the process of revising their regulations that govern how the agency prepares Forest Plans. Known as the "Planning Rule," these regulations will be the driving force behind how the agency develops, amends and revises their Land Use Plans.

The FS is proposing a planning rule that will shift what is left of any emphasis toward multiple use/sustained yield to such things as global warming, ecosystem management and their new buzz word - restoration.

Our action alert below gives a brief analysis and explains why BRC is concerned, and why we are encouraging our entire membership to respond.

For those of you who don't want to know the details, or are busy with work and family, you can use our letter generator . . . Rapid Response Center - BlueRibbon Coalition

For those of you who wish to send your own email to the USFS, we put together another one of our INSANELY EASY 3- step action items below.

Please send your comment email today. The Comment Deadline is February 16, 2010!

Lyin King,
you made mention of the Cali ride areas having problems. It's also here in Florida. Sad to say but everyone wants to moan and groan about all the rules however when asked to support letter writing or emails they "don't have time".
BRC does good work of informing us "joe 6-pack" of what is going on. Please listen up everyone. What will we be talking about if they take away our riding areas? Please lend a helping hand, it helps all of us whatever state your in.

Yes it has now become a Nation Wide issue, not just isolated to Western States. The apathy we OHV folks show by not taking the time to get involved is very problematic and WILL result in massive losses of riding area in the very near future, if it hasn't already hit your backyard . . . it WILL!!!

Get involved now folks before it's WAY PAST TOO LATE!!!

This is not an issue here in Canada yet but I can see down the road how it could.
You and your area are in "THEIR" plan . . .

They've changed their name but their agenda remains the same and their success speaks for itself!

Here's a look at them over a decade after their original "Mission Statement" . . .

What We Do - Wildlands Network - formerly Wildlands Project, a map of the areas they are working to "re-wild" and a focus statement . . .

"

The Wildlands Network has identified four regions where we focus on reconnecting the continent’s wild places.

The Pacific Wildway running from Baja to Alaska

The Boreal Wildway running west-east from Alaska to the Canadian

Maritimes across the forest roof of North America

The Eastern Wildway extends northward from the Everglades along the Appalachians to the Arctic

The Western Wildway spans the continent from Mexico, through the Rockies, to Alaska. This Western Wildway, called the Spine of the Continent, is our showcase initiative, underway now for nearly a decade."

Anyone see any similarity to the areas recently proposed for or already designated as "Wilderness" over the last decade?
