Hey all, I'm looking into buying some riding gear and have come to a dillema. I'm 6'4" and cant find much that will fit me. Firstgear has some mesh jackets and pants made for tall people and I'm polling you guys on what the build quality of this company is. Since I'm in Vegas and the temps regularly get above 110, I'm not going to be getting leather anytime soon. If I did, my chances of a heat stroke would be greater than highsiding the bike!

FirstGear will be fine. I use JR mesh with the thin leather on the arms, shoulders, and upper back on my warm riding days, and anything mesh will probably only be good for one spill, but it should be enough to prevent any major rash if you have protection in it.

I have a FirstGear MeshTech jacket. The quality is very good, and it's very comfortable to wear in the hot weather even when you’re sitting in traffic. It has the foam armor in the shoulders, elbows and back (all removable) and built in padding in the shoulder and elbows.

I have the Fieldsheer Titanium Air jacket. It has CE armor in the elbow, shoulder, and back. Makes me feel a little safer than just having foam in those areas.

Stays real cool also. The first time I tried it on I was standing under my ceiling fan and could feel the breeze from the fan(on low speed, even)blowing right through the jacket.

I wouldnt buy any of the mesh gear at all!! I have watched 3 seperate guys go down in mesh jackets (Joe rocket on all 3) and every one of them walked away with severly rashed shoulders and exploded main zippers. htey are absolute crap jackets. If you are in severly hot weather look at a fully perfed Vanson jackets and pants. THey provide nearly as much ventilation as the mesh ones, but they also provide you with real protection instead of being a glorified T-shirt with some padding velcroed in.

I would recommend fully perfed 1 or 2 piece leathers, and buy the Marsee cooling vest to go underneath. Soak the vest in ice/cold water for a good hour before you ride and head out. Fucking LTL is finally getting to me about the mesh

Hopefully I'll never have a full review for you. But I do feel a bit safer with the CE armor in my jacket.

I'm 6'5" and I've had my Firstgear leather jacket for nearly six years now. Very good quality and it's still going strong, albeit a little worn in areas. :thumb:

I also wear and AGV Sport Mesh jacket that fits me just fine. I've been down while wearing it and only got a small rash on my elbow. :thumb:

I am 6'3" and have the First Gear Meshtex jacket and pants(tall). I think their stuff is good. There is a review on the motorcycle review website. I've read that the Joe Rocket mesh stuff is not good. IMO the First Gear Stuff is better. The company that distrubutes First Gear is top notch. I also have a Honda two piece leather suit, and a 1 piece RHYNO leather suit for 110 degree and below, knee sliding days.
