·Went into the local Cycle Gear last week and they just got their first shipment of the new 04 Shoei's. When I was at Laguna last year I was chatting with Jake Zemke at the riders meeting after the 600 race and I asked if they were gonna release a replica of his lid. He told me it was in the works so I knew I wanted one. As it turns out Shoei has one now so when I saw that I told the guys at Cycle Gear I would buy the first Zemke they got in. Well sure enough last week they got one and it's all mine now. I had an RF-800 and tried out an RF-900 last year. They are decent helmets but lacked a few features, like removeable cheek pads. Well they have added these to the RF-1000 and it is a huge leap forward of the RF-800's and 900's. So far I find it to be very comfy and A LOT quieter then my Arai Corsair. The venting system is almost as good as my Corsair but the Arai seems to be a small step better. Weight wise you'd be hard pressed to be able to tell the difference between the Corsair and the RF-1000, they're pretty damn close. IMHO if you are in the market for a new lid and don't want to spend the $500-$600 for an Arai to give the RF-1000 a serious look. Obviously it depends on your head shape, color preference, and for some the all important "brand loyalty".
