Will someone please give me a good reason why I should spend the extra money on a Pit Bull stand?

Besides 'Bling'.

Thanks,

HD

Okay, but the LP stand seems to just fine. In what way is it better. Remember I have to justify the extra cost to my wife. If I tell her 'quality' she will ask (much like a 2 yr old), 'why?'. And I don't really know the answer. I HATE not knowing the answer!

You gotta learn to make #### up, get real technical and they get confused.

Tell her because the swingarm is uneven heights on each side, you have to have the pitbull...the only one that comes with the adapter. If you don't your bike would sit crooked on the stand and might fall over!!!

My wife is pretty smart. 2 Master's Degrees and all. I could pull it off, but I don't lie very well, and frankly, don't want to.

'cept that he has a 954 and would be using a spool stand most likely.

Ask your wife sometime this weekend if she'd rather use a condom out of the local gas station bathroom or the ones you got at your favorite grocery store last week.  When she wants the ones from the grocery store ask 'why?'.....i think you know where I'm going with this.

Quality to every person varies and what they want quality in varies as well.....good luck........don't settle for no less than the pit bull if u can afford it.

I can afford it. The issue is if I should afford it. The difference is like $70 isn't it? That's not chump change.

The issue is convincing me first, then I can honestly convince my wife. If there is a good reason to spend the extra $70 she will be on board.

The Pit Bull can be used with any bike, spools or no spools. The stand is versatile enough to hold a XX up, A fireblade, RC51, any bike with the right adapter/spool mount. And it will hold up better over time. Tell her you can buy one stand for life, or you can get a sh1ttier one now, and just have to buy another down the road.

I had both LP and Pit Bull.
Big difference in quality.
The LP ended up getting rust in certain areas.
Pit Bull was far more sturdier.

ok, fair enough.

i've never used a pit bull so i can't speak from personal experience but i know a lot of people who have and have been very pleased w/ their product. You could get by fine with the other stand but the q is do u want to?

When it comes to my car i don't give a crap because it is a piece...yeah just give me soemthing that works and i'm happy. But when it comes to my bike, I WANT QUALITY. I want to know that the build of the product is excellent. Stands should be rigid, well made, and overall dependable. I believe PIT Bull comes much closer to meeting those requirements than does LP.

You may also want to think about resell value...

Just to throw a monkey wrench in your stand options, have you ever considered a Woodcraft? They are in the same price range as Pitbull, which I have an really like. I also have Woodcraft stands and the thing that I like about them more than Pitbull is that you don't have a big bar in your a$$ when taking off the front and rear tire. The Woodcraft operates with the same ease if not a little bit easier than Pitbull.

Yeah, I have a pair of them (front and rear) but the more I look into the stuff some of it just seems like it's WAY WAY over prices.

Come on, $140 for a Ducati adaptor for the front stand (It's freaking straight tube and a couple of hooks!!&#33 and the rear SSS stand.. $150 for three pieces of straight tube an a couple of $2.00 wheels? Sheesh.

I can see the standar rear stand commanding a good price because of the nice mandrel bent tubing and all that.. but the SSS stand should be about $80 max (IMHO).

And the front adaptor... sheesh. My father-in-law just about fell over laughing when he heard that (he's a fabricator) so I'm going to have him make one I guess. If it was like $50 or somethign reasonable I'd say sure thing.

The stands are nice, don't get me wrong.. I really like them.. I'm just not sure they are worth *that* much money (this is about $300 worth of stands pictured here):

YMMV.
