Yeah interesting. Funny thing is I just did a track day on ARIs (which Ulrich gave a good listing for wear) and will never use them again. I basically went through a puck in one day. I have a set of A&G (asphalt and gas) leather pucks that are several years old and still working.

Thanks for your review. So you're sold on the leather type (A&G) versus the plastic? I'm in the market for a different pair, notice different not new :smilebig: , the ones I currently have are so thin I have to be literally hanging off to scrape. I would like something just a little thicker.

I use plastic or leather. The best plastics I have found are Helimot on the Helimot web site..They last. I like leather because they feel better on the track.

Plus I know the owner of A&G and he is a great guy. (He just had an accident at Sears Point. He was standing in the pits drinking a fruit drink and a punk girl on a pit bike ran into him. banged his head and spilled his drink!)

Thanks. Oh, he probably wouldn't have minded you telling us he had an accident at Sears Point, but he might be pissed that you told how it happened! :rotfl:

Thanks for the link SuperDave. I haven't tried leather pucks and kind of hesitate to; not sure I'd like a "grabby" feel?
No problem, just happened upon it. I think Abtech uses those A&G leather pucks as well, if I remember one of his threads correctly.

I have used about 6 different types of plastic pucks and they all do one thing well: Bounce. The A&Gs never bounce and they have just enough friction to give you some feedback about the surface. I had a plastic puck just about break my knee from bouncing over a dip in turn 5 at Grattan right next to (what used to be) the curb during an inside pass. It bounced hard enough to jam my knee back into the tank and dent the crap out of it.

Jeff Lee is one of the coolest people in US racing and makes an excellent product (IMHO).

Update on Jeff Lee injury

Jeff Lee, owner of A&G pucks, was injured in a race track injury. Update enclosed:
Press release for entertainment purposes only

Jeff Lee injury update

A&G knee puck maker, Jeff Lee, was injured in a freak
accident at the AFM motorcycle races at Thunderhill
Raceway on June 13. The accident occurred while Lee
was walking in the pits, minding his own business,
drinking a Kern?s apricot nectar. According to Lee, a
self-described ?punk bitch,? named Tiffany, with
flaming magenta hair and a stud piercing protruding
from her lower lip, started a mini-bike pit vehicle
and the cycle took off immediately, accelerating out
of control at full throttle for 15 feet until ramming
into Lee. Lee stood there dumfounded, thinking,? Why
is she aiming right at me? Why is she not turning?
Why is she not slowing down? Is she trying to play a
joke on me by aiming right at me and then slamming on
the brakes or swerving right in front of me? Do I
know her?? The rider was heard to cry, ?Whoa, whoa,
whoa!? before slamming into the pedestrian. ?Her
forehead hit me on the bridge of my nose and I was
thrown backward and rolled onto the 110 degree
pavement,? said the victim. The pit bike and flying
ex-rider continued another 2 feet into a parked car
with the girl landing face down on the pavement.

For Lee, the accident resulted in a bloody nose and a
1/2-inch long skin rupture in between his eyebrows
that swelled up to make him look like a Neanderthal
with protruding brow. The front tire spun on his left
shin leaving scrape marks that make it appear he ran
out of shaving cream while shaving his legs really
hard. Both knees got bruised from the impact with the
mini-bike and now look like purple double-bubble
windscreens. Most importantly, Lee spilled his full
can of Kern?s apricot nectar and was unable to locate
the spilled can after the incident, hoping there might
be a little left on the very hot day.

Tiffany suffered numerous facial lacerations and heavy
bruising across her forehead, cheeks and chin. The
impact with the ground caused her teeth to puncture
her lower lip in two places and the previously,
intentionally-installed, stud piercing through her lip
caused her gum to also get pierced. She complained of
neck pain, dizziness and very hot pavement. too. One
of Tiffany?s friends later admitted that the vehicle
was known to have some sort of defective suicide
clutch that engages unpredictably. At the end of the
day, there was still a pool of dried blood at the side
of the car where Tiffany lay.

?I got creamed by a pit bike,? lamented Lee. ?I can?t
believe it. I?ve gone 300,000 miles on a bike and
never gotten hurt this bad. This is the worst I?ve
ever been injured in a motorcycle accident and I was
walking at the time. It?s worse than when I flipped
James Lickwar?s soapbox derby car. I?m glad she
wasn?t wearing a helmet. Because, if she was, she?d
be fine and I?d have a concussion.?
