My Oxtars squeak sooooooooo bad, you can hear me a mile away. Silicone stuff doesn't help (actually I think it makes it worse)

What are some things you guys have tried and has helped??

I have so far tried only WD40 on my squeakkkkkkkkkkkkkkky Sidi Vertebra II's, with "some" success. It totally got rid of the squeak, but not for that long, although it is still much more tolerable. I am going to try a very light coat of Judy Butter (for mountain bike Judy forks) next time. I'll let you know how that goes  .

WD40....?
:crap:
Dude, that is the Button Mushroom of the lube world....

"Judy Butter", huh? Is that what you hippie midgets are calling it these days?

I thought the squeek was part of the "charm" of my SIDI's!

Hmmm... My Vertebra boots squeak too. I don't think the three of us should ever walk down the street together.

And I thought my Oxtars were the loudest. At the track it's no big deal but I wore them through a restaraunt one time...it was the last...

Well let me say I share in the squeaky boot blues. My A-stars SMX Plus boots are the loudest by far. Many times I have walked trough a public place such as a restaurant and been stared at. I see they cahnged the design this year and have gotten to the point where I just ordered new boots from another brand...........which seem to squeak according to a post in this thread. I hope my new Sidi aren't as bad as my A-stars.

Anybody here ever tried powdered graphite? Might do the trick, though it's also possible you'd have to re-treat the boots every couple of weeks. :idunno:

WTF is with the squeaky thing?! And I think you will find the Sidi boot pretty horrible also.

Button mushroom = generic.....

Get some real lube...grease, vaseline, astroglide....anything except WD40.... :nono:

WD40 makes a good chain cleaner....or an evening of drunken flame-throwing fun with a bic lighter, but that's about it.... :(
G
I even tried chain lube on my Sidis, but they still squeeked after a short time. Now I kind of like sounding like a knight in leather armor. :)

OMG, I have a pair and they are SOOooo LOUD!
Funny I went on a ride and one of my buddy's boots were real squeaky. I didn't see them at first and was walking towards him. He immediately said "SMX, huh?"
We both looked at each other's feet and cracked up.
G
The worst part is when one is louder than the other... squeak-sqwack, Sqweak-sqwack with every step. Sounds like you are broken or crippled or something. Makes me feel like I should walk with a limp.
