I have both a Gunwind and a Spec 1-R. Love em both. Not quite as nice as my Arai, but for the $, I'm very pleased.

What's the $$$ for them?? I haven't seen 'em here in Canada, but looking on the Net, I've seen everything from "Hmm, not bad" to "Holy Phuk!!".

My Shoei is going towards it's 5th year and close to 100k so I think I'm due for a new one. Arai's are out of the question for me, but there's no way I'm buying a new lid without trying it on so I may go back to Shoei, 'cause of cost.

I tried on the new Shoei X-11. What a nice helmet! This model fits folks with "arai heads". I took it out for a demo at a trackday and it was so much quieter than my Arai RX7-RR4. When I need a new helmet, I'll be taking a good look at it.

Thanks HG2. I've seen the new 11's but haven't looked seriously, but I will now.

I paid $325 CAD for my RF800, and that was a good deal (like 89 bucks US. :rotfl: )

Oh, I think they're a bit more than that! :)

SMTB, sorry, I don't know much about Suomy.

I'm thinking in the vicinity of $600 CDN.

what I really want to know, is ease of changing the sheild. it looks like it has cheap ass corners on it, my first AGV helmet had those...JUNK! I will never go back, I like the one peice visors.

I've had my spec 1r for about two michigan riding seasons. I change the shield mostly every nite on friday rides from smoke to clear. It seems to be holding up great, I too don't care for the side covers but they give you a little tool that pushes a release pin and the cover falls off. I know of people that just pry them off and theirs seem OK too. My friend has a OGK and the shield release is very nice on that, just push a button and the shield slide out and just push another in. As for the finish the paint is great and the padding is still as plush as the day I put it on for the first time.

my $0.03

I read on another board that the fit and finish of the suomy is not as good as arai or shoei. The suomy is a good looking helmet. I own the arai RX7 Corsair and love it.

thanks guys for all the input! :)

I have a spec-1r Bostrom Rep. I love it. I'm not too fond of the side covers. It takes some getting used to how the visors change w/ the covers and everything. It also kindo of sucks that you need a tool to do it, but I could probably use my bike key. Only other complaint is that the graphics are stickers, and in the place where they cut out the vents in the front the sticker is pealing up a bit. As long as I don't mess w/ it it will be okay, but it's a bit like not scratching an itch ya know?

Anyway, as far as the important stuff: It is super light, and comfy. Head checks are easier than my HJC. The shield is hard to fog up as well.

All in all, I'm really happy. BTW, I paid $400 for it.

man bro. you don't sound too happy with it. I am glad you told me those things though...i think you might have talked me right out of the whole thing. As much as I like the AGV X2R rossi line, I think I want to get the shoei X11 now even more.

To the contrary, I really like it. Seriously. Also, everyone has a Shoei or Arai, but I have something different. For what THAT's worth anyway. No dude, it's an awesome helmet.
