It actually isolates your spine from the impact area. You can see the buldge in it where your spiine goes? That is the key to the Helimot version. All the others are simply flat. They protect your back to a degree, but the rest don't isolate and protect your spine like the Helimot one does.

If you're thinking about a back protector, this is your very best opportunity to buy the very best one out there IMO.

Unfortunately, my spine is about 3 inches longer than the largest one they make, so it is impossible to wear unless you are a masochist. Other than that they seem pretty nice.

Your Back is longer than the 6 plate? You need to play football. That should take care of it.

I didn't see anywhere on the site that said it was on sale. What are the normal prices?

OTE, the prices depend on which size you order. For example, I needed the largest one they had (over 6 ft) which cost $150, $162, OTD. So %20 off would be about $120 before taxes.

I tried the Knox/Bohn, Dainese and a few others. The TLV offered the best protection and was the most comfortable of the ones I fitted. Also, the Bohn/Knox is a one use only that crushes upon impact, much like a helmet liner. The TLV is more maleable and comforms to your back as you wear it. Get one before they are gone, many locals are planning on buying the TLV.

One more thing, the plates are sandwhiched between layers of impact foam. You never even feel them.
