Looking to get a CRF450R, don't want a beat up P.O.S either. All the 05's here are spoken for until November.

Nah, what you really want is an '04 XR400...
G
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... :nono: nah! I rode one this weekend and was unimpressed by it, but nice try Conq.

Were you unimpressed with its reliability, or its lack of maintenance required? :hmm: :smilebig:
G
It's lack....of power.

Oh! you want power? How 'bout a CR500R? :eyebrows:

I had an older friend who had to get rid of his XR400 because his 12 year old son was smoking him on his CR85.

XR's are great for their intended purpose - but they are lethargically slow.

Yeah, it's not meant for speed. Just good low-end torque for trail riding.
BTW, my dealer has a 2004 CRF450 in his showroom (maybe more in the back).

You should be able to get one from your local dealer, if they do a transfer from another dealer. Or buy one and have it shipped. Shouldn't cost a whole lot.

Now THAT is the REAL DEAL. It will vibrate you to death, but nothing will outrun that in a drag race! :thumb:

Those things are made not that far away from me - I've seen several of them in the Vet classes. Very very very trick!!!

My CR is as smooth as ice cream! What makes you think these will vibrate the hell out of you? It ain't no KTM or Rotax.

That one is a modified CR500 engine in a CR250 frame though. Maybe that's why? :idunno:

The engine and handle bar mounts have rubber bushings. If I ever got my hands on an AF it would sleep in my bed with me.

Really? I have owned a couple of big-bore two smokes - an 83 CR480 and a 97 KX500. Both were brutally fast but I sure wouldn't call them smooth. At least the KX had a powervalve to soften the two stroke hit.

As far as KTM's vibrating ... :idunno: ... I take it you've never ridden one.
Did you say YZ450? Oh no thats right - you don't want to lead because then the heat is on every single race to do it over and over again, no worries like that with that CRf ;)
hehehe...though not serious, unless you're a brand addict - something else to consider if looking used. The 04's are nice :)

The .88 Magnum... it goes through schools.

I rode my friends 04 YZ450 and it was a bit much for me. I have limited dirt ability and that thing hits like a freight train on crack. Too much for me thanks.
